Our story
In 2020, amidst the COVID pandemic, my story with Jani came together, culminating in Klippers.
But let me go back a bit...
I come from the world of barbering and hairdressing, where I constantly felt there was no online or physical store that could provide real professional help. How could there be, when someone who sells machines and often products, a webshop or store owner, has never cut a single hair? I lie, maybe they trimmed their Yorkie's fur with some Wahl Pet Grooming clipper...
So how could they help with questions like whether the Magic front plate fits the Legend (spoiler: no), how ceramic blades are better (or worse) than traditional ones, or what a DLC-coated blade is?
There are hundreds and hundreds of similar questions and answers in this profession, sometimes even we need serious research for a single answer, so imagine how clueless someone can be who has never even used professional hair clippers, trimmers, or hair styling products.
Selling and using are very different things!
Then, around the end of 2020, I ran into Jani, who was looking for a business to occupy his valuable free time (and money, haha), while I was praying nightly to the picture of Cecília Müller above my bed that my existing businesses would reopen because the herring was running out of the fridge.
Then all that free time due to COVID eventually proved useful; I not only reached level 160 in Warzone but also managed to put together the KLIPPERS 1.0 webshop while waiting in the lobby.
We didn't expect much success either at the beginning or later, but then suddenly, that certain barrier broke.
I had recognition in the industry, as did my friends, who helped the webshop take off quickly, but I'm sure it wouldn't have succeeded if we hadn't touched on a very sore spot in our profession. You felt that for the first time we were selling things that other stores "wouldn't bother with."
We bothered, we knew what we/you needed. From then on, everything fell into place, we knew we were on the right track.
Then one thing led to another; we didn't want to remain "just" a webshop, we wanted to somehow bring the local community together. The LEARNZ digital education sidekick project came, then local events either self-organized or co-organized, the very popular KLIPPERS ONLINE BATTLE, our vlog and podcast episodes, and then perhaps the tip of the spear, our SELECTED by klippers project, where we wanted to bring together barbers with a similar mentality to ours, to fulfill ourselves artistically.
We don't know how long or where our path will lead, but one thing is for sure, we've enjoyed every step of the way so far!
Kisses to the family
